Online Baccarat: What are the Baccarat Rules?
The game itself is quite simple once you understand the principle and the sometimes idiosyncratic rules. We will take a closer look at the latter. For now, just remember that baccarat has its own rules. It’s different from poker or blackjack because the odds are quite different at baccarat and it will take you awhile to familiarize yourself with Online Baccarat. But once you understand the rules, it’s super easy, fast and entertaining, and on top of that there are plenty of ways to prepare for your first “real” virtual game and play a few hands to practice.
Short summary to Baccarat gameplay
First, you must know about Baccarat that there are several variants of the game, three of which are particularly widespread. These are Punto Banco , Baccarat Chemin de Fer (also called C hemmy ) and Baccarat Banque, In this guide, we are exclusively concerned with Punto Banco, as it is with 99% certainty the variant that you will meet at the casino. In countries that allow casino games, Punto Banco accounts for over 90% of all baccarat games offered, and even the best online casinos are no exception. Of course you can continue your education independently, but knowing the basic principles of Punto Banco is the best starting point you can have.
In each Baccarat game, the cards are hidden and dealt on two hands: Player (also called Punto ) and Bank or Banker (also called Banco ). At first glance, it would make sense for baccarat beginners to hope that the player’s hand will score a good score, but actually that does not matter. Because the player hand does not belong to you as a player and the banker hand does not belong to the dealer. Player and bank are simply two names chosen for that, and actually, it all depends on what you bet on.
You place your bet directly at the beginning of the game and before even one card is dealt. Now you have three options: player, bank or draw. The first two alternatives are pretty obvious – you bet on the player if you think the player’s hand wins, and so on. You can also choose a tie and get higher odds, but also a bigger house edge, because of your risk appetite.
Once all bets have been placed, you no longer have to do anything as a player. Any further decision is now at the dealer, so dictate the rules. His decisions are completely subject to the card values in each hand.
When all bets have been played and the cards have been dealt, the latter are reversed. The player’s hand is first. The goal of the game is to score as close to 9 as possible . Below you will find all the information about how Nine is achieved and why this rousing game is all about this number.
What are the rules of the game? (Scores // Draws and Stands)
The first baccarat rule has to do with card values. The number cards have, as expected, scores exactly matching the numbers they show. So the 2 as a map also has the score 2, the 10 the value 10, etc. For the picture cards, however, this is a bit different. Jack, Queen and King have 0 points and only the Ace is worth 1 point. So, for example, if you have a hand of 6 / ace, then the point value of that combination is 7. If you get the combo 8 / king dealt then its score is 8.
Next, you need to know that only the “leftmost” number applies to the calculation. For example, in the case of a 16, this means that the end result is 6, and 11 means it is 1, and so on. So, handing 8 and 6 hands results in 14, but the score is only 4. So it also happens that 9 is the highest end result that a hand can reach. Because if a number is two digits, then the calculation changes and the first digit is automatically ignored. If both hands are 8 or 9 then no more cards will be dealt this round. If such a result appears on the first deal, then that situation becomes Naturalcalled and the numbers also pay natural winners. An 8 can only be beaten by a Natural 9 in this case.
If you think that the game is suspiciously reminiscent of blackjack, then you are not entirely wrong. Blackjack, however, gives you the option of staying with your cards when you’re satisfied or, if that’s not the case, requesting another card. At Baccarat this decision will be accepted. If the player hand delivers a final score between 6 and 9, then a stand occurs and no further cards are turned over. If the final score is 5 or less, the dealer will automatically make a hit and flip an extra card. The player’s hand is now complete.
Next we look at the banker’s hand. The banker will receive another card if he has a score of 0, 1, 2 or 3 (with one exception, which we’ll take a moment to look at). At 7, 8 or 9 he always stops. In the next section, we’ll show you what happens at 4, 5, and 6, because that depends on the player’s hand.
As the banker’s hand is played by the player’s hand, there is a small house edge in favor of the banker, and banker’s bets are consistently among the most popular alternatives, not only in baccarat but in many other casino games as well. If you bet on the banker and win, then it is disbursed in a ratio of 1: 1, also called Evens, but it comes to a 5% commission to the house. This ensures that players do not always just bet on the banker. A successful bet on the player also pays out 1: 1, but without commission. Anyone who bets on a draw and wins, gets in most casinos a quota of 8: 1.
Exceptions to Baccarat
Basically Baccarat is a game in which both player and bank get two cards and the round based on those two cards is won or lost. However, depending on the outcome of the two revealed hands, player, bank, or both, you may receive another card. These cases make baccarat a little more difficult, but always remember that it is not you who make the decisions but everything happens automatically, according to the following guidelines.
- If a player or banker scores 8 or 9, that is a natural and wins the hand directly, unless the other player has the same result. Then there is a draw and no more cards are dealt.
- If the player has a 5 or less, he always gets a third card. If the player does not get a third card, the bank stops at 6 and pulls at everything that lies underneath.
- If the player receives a third card, the dealer’s turn is determined based on the following rules:
- If the final score of the bank is 2 or less, then there is always a hit.
- If the end result of the bank is 3, then there is a hit if the value of the player is not 8.
- If the final score of the bank is 4, then there is a hit if the player’s third card is a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7.
- If the final score of the bank is 5, then there is a hit if the player’s third card is a 4, 5, 6, or 7.
- If the final score of the bank is 6, then there is a hit if the player’s third card is a 6 or 7.
- The bank always stops when it has a total value of 7 or more.
After the third cards have been revealed, the player with the highest final card value wins. Of course there can still be a draw. However, you should rather refrain from this so-called tie, because here comes a gigantic house advantage of 14.36% to bear.
Finally, we want to give you one last thing on the way. A land based casino has so-called score boards for its players, which shows how the last games went. This helps to calculate likelihood and recognize long winning streaks for a particular page. In the online casino, this calculation of results is usually automatic for you. If not, then you should take some notes for safety’s sake. Good bookkeeping can help you to improve your betting strategy.
